DIPLOMA IN ENGLISH LAW AND PRACTICAL LEGAL SKILLS
The British Law Centre’s Diploma in English Law and Legal Skills (“DELLS”) is run by a charity (Juris Angliae Scientia) based at the University of Cambridge, Faculty of Law. It’s members include Lord Carnwath (former judge of the UK Supreme Court) and the Academic Committee is presided over by Professor Richard Fentiman.
The Diploma course teaches core issues of English law (including contract law, tort, trusts and others) and a range of practical legal skills (inc. legal writing, negotiations, drafting, oral advocacy, legal research and analysis, mooting and others). The Diploma is taught at Charles University by an expert team of native-speaking legal academics and professionals. The course materials are prepared by experts in their respective fields, including academic staff from Cambridge University and other leading UK Universities.
All teaching is conducted in English in a practical and interactive manner. Whether you wish to practise as a lawyer or simply improve your written and spoken English whilst developing a range of other skills, the BLC helps to make your career goals a reality.
The BLC’s Diploma is co-accredited by Charles University Faculty of Law and Juris Angliae Scientia. It is well-recognised amongst the legal and academic community, including international law firms and renowned academic institutions, both in the Czech Republic and beyond.
BLC graduates have already gone on to excel in a wide variety of professional ways, inter alia by working in most of the major international law firms and a variety of legal institutions (e.g. Czech former Advocate-General to the Court of Justice of the EU currently serving as a justice at the Czech Supreme Administrative Court – Michal Bobek – is a graduate of the BLC in Prague).
